Witness the value of the divers who are dropped from this legendary cliff into the ocean waters . The cliff known as La Quebrada has been one of the major attractions of Acapulco since 1934. Without professional training , the natives have learned to jump off a cliff into the waves 45 feet below crash. They are greeted by a pool with less than four meters deep.
Daily there five presentations of these brave athletes , the most spectacular and unforgettable are the night , as they launch carrying a torch in each hand. A public viewpoint from where you can see the jump in exchange for a tip for the divers . The best
view , however , is provided by the club La Perla, although the entrance fee .
If you have already seen this show , you probably wonder how acrobats manage to " get away with " before such a difficult situation . Mónico Jorge RamÃrez Vázquez , a member of a family of divers who performed this act for three generations , explains: " The notion of time is key to a good jump . Fall lasts three seconds and high waves , which mark the time to enter the water , they last only five. We have just a margin of error of two seconds. "
Jorge works from 8 to 10 am and takes two jumps for five days a week . Meditation and prayer are part of your routine .
Fear is present in every dive , regardless of how many have made in your life. If a diver begins his career at age 17 and retires at 45, held a total of about 15 000 560 dives. Many have suffered accidents , mainly due to the impact upon entering the water. However, surprisingly, never been registered deaths in this risky activity.
