After the capture of the main warlords -Hidalgo , Allende, Aldama and Jimenez , General Ignacio Lopez Rayon took command of the Insurgent Army and continued fighting throughout the country. The September 13, 1812 , Lopez Rayon with Andrés Quintana Roo , came to the small town of Huichapan , Hidalgo, with the intention to learn about the military campaigns that were taking place in that region. In Huichapan , the
festivities begin from Saturday 6 September, but the most important events taking place on 14 , 15 and 16 September.
These activities include bullfighting , craft fair , a representation of the Grito de Independencia, presenting artists at the Teatro del Pueblo, burning castles , a popular dance that occurs 15 hours and, of course , Grito de Independencia .
If you decide to go to this beautiful colonial town , check out the impressive set of religious churrigueresque composed of two chapels and a church , where stands the Temple of San Mateo, built during the mid 18th Century .
The large garden is surrounded by people aged portals where commercial activity is not stopped and extends market days to the surrounding streets , living with the haughty merchants quarry buildings .

Huichapan is 44 km west of Ixmiquilpan , southwest of the state of Hidalgo.
Directions :
From Mexico City you should take the highway to Pachuca and then detour for Highway 85 towards Ixmiquilpan . Another way is to take the Autopista Mexico -Queretaro and follow a deviation to right before reaching San Juan River (it is signposted ) .

Un- cool temperate climate is presented with an annual temperature of 16 ° C; a rainy season in the months of May to September.
When to go:
